The total cost of the workshop will be 650 Euros. This will cover everything other than your flight to Barcelona. It includes cost of venue, accommodation and all meals, plus transfer from the airport. There will be an additional charge for alcoholic beverages, according to consumption! There may be a small surcharge depending on any fluctuations in currency between March and June; or there may even be a rebate if we do not spend all your money!
A non-refundable deposit of 246 Euros is required (in Australian Dollars) from all attendees by 31 March. Once you have been offered a place at the workshop (and only then) please go to this site to pay the deposit (credit card payments only). The remainder will be payable to the hotel on arrival (note that you do not have to make a booking with the hotel - we will do that for you). However, if you prefer to pay the entire 650 Euro in February/March, for budget/tax reasons, we can accommodate this, with difficulty! But you will need to contact Roger Cousens by email (as our credit card system will not allow you to pay more than the deposit!).
Early-career researchers take note:
Through the European Weed Research Society (EWRS), early career researchers from Europe and neighbouring countries can receive a subsidy of 500 Euros to assist their costs and, if you are not an EWRS member, to cover the cost of a one-year subscription to the society. The conference organising committee will propose the recipients to EWRS: you do not need to apply to EWRS. You will, however, have to pay the full registration and then receive a reimbursement from EWRS on presentation of receipts.
And thanks to the generous sponsorship of Meat & Livestock Australia and the Grains Research & Development Corporation, two young scientists from Australia will receive up to $3,500 to help towards travel costs and the workshop fee. As with the EWRS subsidies, recommendations will be made to MLA and GRDC by the organising committee. On return to Australia, the successful person will be required to make a written report to MLA/GRDC and to present a short talk to a meeting nominated by MLA/GRDC.
